About Yan Birch
Star of numerous horror films including The People Under The Stairs and Essence of Echoes, Yan Birch is known for playing on screen villains.
The performing arts were a big part of Birch’s life from an early age, and when he was a child he starred in local stage productions and played multiple musical instruments. This led to small roles in television, including on children’s programme Barnjournalen and lifestyle channel Unga Tvaan. After graduating he began to land roles in adverts and commercials before winning his first parts in films. Slumber Party Massacre ||| and The Runestone launched his career in horror movies, with his major breakout role coming when he played The Stairmaster in The People Under The Stairs in 1991. He went on to appear in and produce film Essence of Echoes, and played the head warlock in TV series Charmed. Birch continues to land roles in a huge variety of TV programmes and films, ranging from Brooklyn Nine Nine to Betrayed to Agramon’s Gate. His unique look and angular bone structure have contributed to his distinctive style, and he is still a first call for high profile roles even after 30 years in show business.
Birch is currently working on numerous projects that are in pre and post production, including several films and a television series. With multiple releases scheduled for later in 2020, this talented actor remains at the top of his game.
